Los Angeles is a city that defines the image of American pop culture, strong and loud and imitated throughout the world. Yet, in the midst of the glitz and noise, there is a softer voice rooted in people getting together to sing, play, dance and tell stories. This is the community of folk and traditional arts enriched by the city's diverse ethnic and cultural population.

FolkWorks promotes folk and traditional music, dance and related arts by publishing an e-zine and presenting occasional concerts and dances. FolkWorks e-zine features articles about local happenings, ongoing columns about singing, storytelling and music theory and information about concerts, dances, folk arts, crafts shows, websites and CD reviews. It's where to look to find recordings or videos or places to get music instruction. There are interviews with local musicians and visiting performers and articles about singer-songwriters, fiddle music, dance styles and more.

To support FolkWorks, become a member with a tax-deductible donation or place an ad. All members are eligible for free concert tickets and “friend” level supporters  receive CD premiums.
